They say home is where your heart feels safest. For me, home has a name, Chigo.
I met Chigozirim at a project camp back in school, and she became unforgettable - so brilliant, so kind, and carrying a laughter that could brighten the heaviest day. What began as a friendship soon revealed something rare, a fiercely loyal spirit, a woman of deep faith with a golden heart that always, and always seeks to give her very best to everything she does. I have never stopped admiring the way she moves through life, with grace, with intention, and with an unshakable faithfulness.
Even when distance kept us apart (me in Canada, her in London), with life staying busy and seasons shifting, something beautiful happened… our friendship didn’t fade but it quietly deepened in quality. The shared moments became more meaningful.
At some point, I knew in my heart that this wasn’t just a friendship enduring distance. It was God steadily drawing us closer, preparing our hearts and paths for our friendship to grow into a beautiful love story.
“My favourite memory of Daniel and Chigo is watching their journey unfold. Daniel and I used to joke for months that he was an Uber driver waiting for his passenger Chigo, praying she wouldn’t cancel, hoping his gas wouldn’t finish, and wondering why she was taking so long. I always teased that she was packing all her belongings because once she entered that “Uber,” she wasn’t going back. Glory to God, that’s exactly what happened.”
I love seeing how clearly God’s hand is on this relationship. Nothing about it feels ordinary, God truly planned and orchestrated it. I love Daniel, I trust him, and I know Chigo is stepping into a world of joy because this man is TOO GOOD and TOO BLESSED
My prayer is that you both find grace to put each other first, stay playful, love each other anew every day, and keep God as your foundation. I love you both.
